The ESL Instructor provides quality instruction to adult learners, integrating meaningful classroom activities and valuable experiences that facilitate the students’ learning goals and workforce skills. The goal of this position is to guide adult English Language Learners toward gaining proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing. This position requires a working knowledge of teaching methods and knowledge of the mission and philosophy of community-based programs. The position requires a close working relationship with partnering organizations, faculty, and other student/outreach services staff. The position requires regular evening hours. Bilingual, bi-literate in Spanish/English is required.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station, reach with hands and arms and utilize other equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, and frequent walking, standing and climbing of stairs or ladders in all weather conditions.
A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Appropriate attire for indoor and outdoor duties required.
