  • Job Summary:

    The Leader Coach/Trainer (LC/T) works under the direction of the Director of Learning and Development (L&D) and helps to drive performance improvement at all levels of leadership at Southwest Key, but primarily focuses on new and emerging leaders.  The LC/T serves as an active partner in the leadership development process by helping to assess leadership skills, determine development needs, implement/facilitate training interventions, and coach for continuous improvement.  A major part of this role is to lead training and learning experiences in the classroom, through e- learning, or on the job; and after the training has occurred, the LC/T manages an individualized coaching plan for participants to ensure transfer of training and skill development.  On occasion, the Leader Coach/Trainer role will require more work hours than the normal eight-hour workday and may require up to 40% travel within an assigned region, with periodic overnight travel to assist other regions.

    Essential Functions:

    • Work within an assigned region in partnership with the HR and the Executive Leadership teams to understand leadership challenges and other organizational compliance responsibilities.
    • Identify relevant leader training needs for individuals, teams and departments, using effective assessment methods and measurement systems.
    • Assist in conducting performance and cause analysis and evaluate results against performance goals. Monitor change as necessary.
    • Consult with the L&D curriculum development team to define or refine leadership training content and determine the best approach or training method, such as classroom training, e-learning, or on-the-job training.
    • Organize training venues, logistics, transport, or accommodations to achieve efficient training attendance and participant satisfaction.
    • Communicate with learners pre- and post-training; build and sustain internal relationships; and establish credibility as an instructor and learning leader for Southwest Key.
    • Use an approved leadership coaching model to ensure the post-training application of leadership concepts and theories. Create individual leader coaching plans and improvement strategies and monitor progress within the SWK Learning Management System.
    • Assist in analyzing the effectiveness of training program implementation by comparing training results with established benchmarks and reporting the results to stakeholders, such as HR and the Executive Leadership teams.
    • Use technology effectively across the different areas of expertise and review opportunities for integration of technology as a leader development tool.
    • Use established SWK or vendor training courses, materials, exercises, instructor guides and other learning programs necessary to meet the goals of the assigned region. Contribute to L&D curriculum development and training design, as needed. 
    • Manage and/or coordinate a variety of training data collection efforts, analyze and interpret data, and recommend solutions that address learner and stakeholder needs.
    • Stay abreast of trends, practices in leadership development, leadership coaching methods, and training/facilitation tips, and tricks.
    • Generate written reports and presentations related to training programs and deliver to appropriate audiences as needed.
    • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Demonstrated proficiency with various training and development technologies along with the ability to learn new software quickly.
    • Strong experience and proven track record in effectively coaching leaders, following an approved coaching model.
    • Excellent communicator and dynamic training facilitator, who understands the needs of various employee groups.
    • Understanding of contemporary practices and theories relating to coaching for improved performance.
    • Familiar with andragogy and best practices for adult learners.

    Preferred

    • Bachelor’s degree with three years of experience in performance coaching, training, human resources, adult education, or a related field. At least five years of experience in soft-skills or leadership training for adults, human resources, or curriculum development may substitute for a four-year degree.
    • Bilingual (Spanish)

    Physical Demands:

    Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

    Work Environment:

    General office environment with moderate noise. This position is involves walking or standing for long periods of time, mostly while facilitating training. The option of having a limited standing workspace may be available. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.  Frequent travel, including travel by car and airplane, could be up to 40%.
