  • Job Summary:

    The Vice President of Immigrant Children’s Services is responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive array of services and programs. She/he is responsible for all activities pertaining to licensure, human rights, personnel, finance and contracts. The Vice President of Immigrant Children’s Services is a member of the management team and participates in setting direction for and ensuring the health of the organization as a whole

    Essential Functions:

    • Provide effective and inspiring leadership, by being actively involved in all programs and services. Implement and lead a continuous quality improvement process throughout the program and service areas, focusing on systems/process improvement.
    • Promote regular and ongoing opportunities for all staff to give feedback on program operations.
    • Lead a high performing team of regional and program directors by further developing and implementing recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
    • Partner with the El Presidente/CEO to represent Southwest Key Programs with external constituency groups, including community, governmental, and private organizations.
    • Ensure that all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of Southwest Key Programs.
    • Prepare and submit an annual operational budget to the El Presidente/CEO and Chief Financial Officer for review and approval, manage effectively within this budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.
    • Ensure the continued financial viability of Southwest Key Programs program/service units through sound fiscal management. Provide programmatic leadership and input for all strategic planning processes with the El Presidente/CEO and staff.
    • Lead, coach, develop, and retain high-performance senior management team for assigned region with an emphasis on developing capacity in strategic analysis and planning and program budgeting.
    • Develop and implement training programs and retreats to expand the capacity of all staff.
    • Manage and cultivate existing relationships with funders to secure and expand recurring revenue streams.
    • Publicly represent Southwest Key Programs with the media and external constituency groups including community, governmental, and private organizations and build excitement for Southwest Key Programs mission.

    Other Functions:

    • Assist with development and administration of revenue generation activities, including fundraising, business development and grants applications.
    • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • A Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of professional experience overall, with a minimum of five years of senior leadership experience supervising seasoned staff operating multiple human services programs across a broad geography.
    • Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams, developing an organization-wide strategy for program excellence, engaging community partners, and partnering with a CEO and board of directors.
    • Reporting and program measurement and evaluation.
    • Demonstrates integrity, strives for excellence in her/his work, and has experience of leading others to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact.


    • An advanced degree in the social sciences with a strong business background.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

    Physical Demands:

    Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

    Work Environment:

    General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
