  • Job Summary:

    The Financial Accountant will be responsible for the financial activities of the workforce Development sites. In addition the Financial Accountant will ensure all daily financial activities are complied with the accounting principal, policy and procedure for the organization. Will also be responsible for maintaining financial records for internal and external monitoring and provide data as requested.   

    Essential Functions:


    • On a monthly basis prepares financial report reviews, financial statements, and monthly billing to ensure the accurate financial position of each program is reported to the program and management personnel on a timely manner.
    • Bank reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation are performed monthly and responsible for the annual budget process and assist in the audit process.
    • Supervise Accounting Technician on all Client Service accounts payable and related activities.
    • Prepare Global Cash Card Journal Entries and reconcile open balances.
    • Process all Micriox Gas Card Procurements, assist program on disbursement issues and prepare month-end expense journal entry.
    • Review and approve Program Financial Specialists document support per GCC and Gas Card Policies..
    • Complete Journal Entries for the on goings of Southwest Key Development Workforce
    • Assist staff in completing Travel Expense Reports.
    • Aid staff in completing their Monthly Mileage logs.
    • Administer support to Program Financial Specialist in covering their duties, when staff are not available
    • Assist in generation of reports, including data gathering via the computer system, printed reports or other available information
    • Prepare accounts payable vouchers and code them in the appropriate month
    • Process Child Care Provider Payments
    • Maintain financial records in an organized and logical manner
    • Assist financial staff with clerical duties, including accounts receivables and payables, photocopying, filing, typing, report preparation, faxing, etc.
    • Implement method for tracking files and safekeeping
    • Distribute information and materials as needed
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Other Functions:


    • Organize and maintain files
    • Assist in gathering information for monthly close
    • Travel to attend meetings training and other activities.
    • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

    Qualifications and Requirements:


    • Associates 2 year degree in business administration, accounting, finance or economic and 2 years related working experience or in lieu of education 3 years of work experience in accounting or finance.
    • Must have good computer skills, including experience with MS Office suite.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated customer service skills.


    Previous experience with TWIST software system.

    Bilingual (English/Spanish).

    Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas.
    • While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment.
    • Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting.
    • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

    Work Environment:

    Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and local travel, including exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather conditions, and occasional environmental hazards
