Job Summary:

The Driver is responsible for provide the transportation for the students to and from the program. Provide support as needed to Teachers with classroom management.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide transportation for students to and from program location.
  • Effectively schedule and plot timely routes for transportation of students.
  • Maintain all required documentation for vehicle and routes to include but not limited to: gasoline logs, vehicle service logs, mileage logs.
  • Attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.
  • Ensure the proper supervision of students at all times.
  • Develop positive rapport with students while serving as a role model to create a safe and caring environment.

Other Functions:

  • Assist Teachers with promoting a positive climate of learning and excellence where students have the opportunity to enhance their developmental growth.
  • Maintain a record of student’s academic progress (grade book) for the development of report cards.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of students as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • Must maintain any professional or para-professional certifications acquired while employed with SWK annually.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience driving in a commercial or business setting, preferably for a correctional or institutional setting.
  • Experience with radio, safety and security equipment.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as per contractual requirements.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule.
  • Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
  • Bilingual.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors as necessary. Bending, stooping and lifting up to 20 lbs required to complete daily tasks. Involves walking and standing for extended periods of time.

Work Environment:

Work shifts are subject to change. Noise levels vary from mild to moderate. Predominantly indoors, occasional outdoor monitoring or activities. This position’s location varies to include confined spaces encountered while traveling across the county. Exposed to prevalent weather conditions.
