  • Job Summary:

    The Security Coordinator is responsible for overseeing day to day security operations and responding to emergency situations at Southwest Key Programs Headquarters. In addition to being responsible for HQ security, this position would help create the SOP for the UM Security Monitors and would also assist with the development of a program security incident response plan for security threats at the programs. The Security Coordinator will be a direct resource to programs for security concerns and will assist with developing and coordinating security policies, procedures, guidelines and training programs to ensure compliance with Southwest Key Programs regulations. This position will be required to maintain a flexible, organized and efficient work schedule and subject to work extended hours, weekends and be on-call.

    Essential Functions:

    • To help train and assess staff to ensure familiarity with and implementation of site security procedures.
    • Ensuring that all safety organizational safety initiatives are carried out/enforced at the program.
    • Guard property against fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.
    • Communicate with local authorities, including police officers, firefighters and emergency services.
    • Ensure that Fire and Burglar alarm systems are functioning properly at all time.
    • To be the first line response to emergencies.
    • Remains alert at all times and reacts quickly, effectively and calmly in emergency situations.
    • Conduct security audits and inspections.
    • Maintain security records, logs and reports for management on security status.
    • Take appropriate action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations.
    • Conduct routine area checks several times during the shift.
    • Monitors staff conduct, possession of contraband and property control.
    • Maintain tracking system of vehicles, keys, two way radios, and other supplies.
    • Coordinate staff when responding to emergencies and alarms.
    • Act with integrity and professionalism at all times.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • High School Diploma with at least 2 years’ experience working as a law enforcement officer or a commissioned security guard.
    • Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
    • Must have First Aid Certification (CPR).
    • Must be computer literate and possess basic computer skills, such as data entry and usage of Microsoft Office.
    • Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule.
    • Must possess a valid state driver’s license
    • Able to follow technical instructions.
    • 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday
    • Must be in Austin, TX

    Strongly Preferred:

    • Bilingual

    Physical Demands:

    Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors by standing for long periods of time and for extended periods of time. Bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs. required to complete daily tasks.

    Work Environment:

    Predominantly outdoors and may be required to work in inclimate weather; occasional indoor monitoring or activities.  Involves walking and standing for extended periods of time.
