    Southwest Key Programs (SWK) is currently seeking bilingual (Spanish-speaking) Youth Care Workers (YCW) for immediate opportunities working with children in our shelters in Phoenix, AZ. SWK is a national nonprofit organization committed to creating opportunities and improving the quality of life for thousands of youth and families each year.

    The Youth Care Worker (YCW) are responsible for supervising the children residing in our care and providing them with a safe and comfortable stay in our shelters as they await reunification with family or sponsors in the United States. 

    Essential Functions:

    • Develop positive rapport with youth while serving as a role model and creating a safe and caring environment.
    • Assist with the planning and coordination of special educational events, cultural activities and recreational outings; assist in the coordination of student council activities and other meaningful experiences that promote volunteerism and learning.
    • Assist instructional staff with vocational courses and approved education curriculum.
    • Assist Program Director with the coordination of physical education instruction and other facilitated recreational activities.
    • Observe, report and document client behavior patterns.
    • May be asked to provide personal care services to infants and toddlers in a childcare setting or to perform a variety of tasks such as dressing, feeding, bathing, and overseeing toddler activities. (Only for region programs with children from 0-17 years of age and certified personal care staff only).


    Qualifications and Requirements:


    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Minimum of (12) consecutive months of paid work experience providing child/youth care
    • Must successfully clear a criminal background check and drug test
    • Must clear a Tuberculosis screening
    • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • First-Aid Certification
    • Food Handler’s Card (May be required in some cases).
