The Gang Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing gang prevention and intervention education and services to youth in coordination with the referral source (school and County staff and community agencies). Proposed strategies should build upon the principles of the following core strategies in the OJJDP Comprehensive Gang Model: Community Mobilization, Opportunities Provision, Social Intervention. In addition, the Gang Intervention Specialist is responsible for operational and administrative duties relating to the program. The Gang Intervention Specialist represents Southwest Key Programs in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current youth/families, funding sources, suppliers and the community served. Required to work flexible schedule to facilitate program services.

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of workstation and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
General office environment with moderate noise. This position may require work in the field. This position may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
