Job Summary:


Southwest Key Programs seeks a strong and effective Regional HR Director for the specified Region. This position is responsible for successfully executing, planning and implementing both tactical and strategic HR processes and initiatives across the Region. In coordination with Corporate HR, the Regional Human Resources Director will oversee all Human Resources (HR) activities for the region including employee relations, organizational planning, legal compliance, HR training, and communication. Provides both strategic support as well as operational focus. Coordinates with management of all regional locations to engage employees, support leaders and enhance the performance of the organization.



Essential Functions:

  • HR Partner – partner with the Regional Vice President, Associate Vice President, Program Directors and other Company leadership staff, specifically the HR Corporate leadership, to drive and execute the overall HR strategies across the region. Must have great internal customer focus and collaborative style.
  • Manage overall SWK HR practices and activities including talent acquisition, wellness, employee relations, and benefits within the region.
  • Drive strategic HR direction for the region.
  • Effectively deliver HR services, programs and policies including all Corporate HR policies.
  • Retention – assist Regional Management and Corporate HR professionals with performance management and employee development programs. Create an environment that supports our desire to be the “employer of choice” throughout the region and the communities where we work and live.
  • Build and foster strong working relationships with internal business partners, both regional and corporate, resulting in strategic alignment and achievement of corporate and regional goals and objectives.
  • Coach and counsel regional management teams about HR programs and issues.
  • Collaborate with management team to build leadership capability and enhance internal talent.
  • Foster a company culture that emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Employee Relations - provide employee relations guidance and support to the Region to ensure an optimal environment exists for employees to perform at their best. Ensure legal compliance and consistency in the handling of employee matters. This may include, promotions, performance issues, terminations/disciplinary actions, layoffs/RIFs, EEO complaints/lawsuits; identifying issues within facilities and proactively addressing them
  • Share and apply knowledge of employment law related to government reporting mandates and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are compliant with all federal and state regulations.

Other Functions:

  • Provide support and back-up to Corporate Human Resource Department as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management or related field.
  • 8 to 12 years (minimum of 8) years of human resources experience, with at least five (5) of those years in a leadership/management role in a large HR Department.
  • Demonstrated superior conflict management skills, strong understanding of employment law; ability to influence leaders at all levels of the organization, strong communication skills both oral and written, customer orientation, strong analytical skills and the ability to apply those analytics to achieve problem resolution
  • Strong training and program development background. Has a comfort in building programs in concert with specified needs of the organization.
  • Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATSs) and HR databases (iCIMS and Kronos).
  • Ability to travel by car/plane, potentially up to 30%.
  • Proven experience in leading efforts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual




  • Masters
  • Experience in non-profits organizations, residential programs, and/or start-ups.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
