Job Summary:

The VP of Technology Advocacy for Social Impact plays a key role in divisional strategic planning, and expanding the organization’s external network, driving innovation, and creating a thriving digital societal ecosystem that benefits both the organization and its partners, with senior executive leaders, and the CEO’s office to provide essential information technology services that support the community development goals. This position will report to the Chief Digital Officer.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for how technology can enhance the social impact goals of the organization.
  • Identify emerging technologies that align with the Organization’s missions, advocating for their adoption and ensuring they are leveraged effectively to maximize the Societal impact.
  • Drive Technology initiatives that contribute to the development and empowerment of local and global communities.
  • Act as the organizations voice in advocating for technology policies for social good, this involves engaging with policymakers, industry leaders and other stakeholders to push for changes that benefit underserved communities and the environment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with society leaders, communities’ organizations, and stakeholders to ensure IT solutions meet their needs.
  • Lead the efforts to secure funding for technology focused initiatives for the community, this includes pitching to donors/investors and demonstrating the potential impact of technology projects to secure necessary resources.
  • Develop training curriculum, programs, workshops and provision of top-notch Technology training to the societal members and work with the partners of Southwest Key focusing on building technological literacy and skills.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Technology strategy that places societal impact at the forefront.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of Technology projects related to societal development.
  • Provide visionary leadership, ensuring alignment between Technology initiatives and the organization’s commitment to community centric values.
  • Champion the adoption of innovative technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness in community programs.
  • Stay abreast of technological trends and assess their relevance to societal development initiatives.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the success and impact of Technology initiatives for Social Impact.
  • Implement systems to evaluate the effectiveness of technology initiatives measuring their impact on the organization’s social goals, this involves collecting data, analyzing outcomes, and refining strategies.
  • Work closely with external partners, NGOs, and government agencies to develop collaborative IT solutions that address societal challenges.
  • Facilitate partnerships that enhance the organizations’ ability to contribute positively to the communities IT services.
  • Build coalitions that can work together to tackle social issues, leveraging technology as a tool for a change.
  • Help build partnerships with Technology companies, other nonprofits, government agencies and academic institutions.
  • Work with Community & Partners to develop “Technology Centers of Excellence”.
  • Advocate for community interest within the organization, ensuring that Technology initiatives align with and positively impact the communities the organization serves.
  • Oversee the development and management of programs that utilize technology to achieve social impact, this includes program goals, managing budgets, overseeing teams and ensure projects are completed successfully with measurable outcomes.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization’s commitment to community centric Technology affairs.
  • Regularly assess and report on the effectiveness of community centric Technology affairs initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree with at least ten (10) years of work experience in working with Executive management - C Suite/Senior Business Management.
  • Over a decade of leadership expertise in guiding organizations through significant community development initiatives including digital modernization and digital advancement initiatives.
  • Organization Management with a team of 25+ Members
  • Relationship management, Visionary, Strategic Alignment, Driving Execution, Empowering Others, and running High Impact Dialogues
  • Corporate and/or Business and/or Technology Strategy development with Enterprise
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present and execute innovative ideas. Ability to effectively present information and respond to high-level inquiries from clients, donors, partners, directors, and other members of the community.
  • Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and ability to handle highly visible responsibilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills: ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information.
  • Ability to take initiative, act independently, and direct one’s work.
  • Guided by exceptional maturity, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to travel frequently.
  • Strong commitment to social impact and community development.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of the workstation and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending, and twisting. Must be able to lift to 10 pounds. Must be able to drive either personal or company vehicle.

  • On-call availability and access, and periodic overtime.
  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • Unscheduled interruptions are to be expected during a typical workday.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computing equipment.
  • Out-of-town travel will be required.

Work Environment:

General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary and involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions frequenting computer uses at workstation for extended periods. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
