Job Summary:

 

 

The Facilities and Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Southwest Key Programs facilities / grounds keeping related items, including disposal of garbage and light janitorial work. All duties will be performed based on professional training and experience, with minimal supervision. The position is subject to work overtime.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains equipment according to maintenance schedule (AC filters, etc)
  • Responds to all assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Requests supplies and equipment as needed from supervisor or designee.  Procure materials as needed.
  • Follows fire safety procedures and regulations when needed.
  • Perform the duties of the Facilities Custodian, as needed.
  • Maintain HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
  • Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed
  • Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks,  etc.)
  • Undertake activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.)
  • Gathers and empty trash from all waste receptacles, offices and general assigned areas daily.
  • Grounds: picking up trash
  • Irrigation: Check sprinkler heads, and report to supervisor any problems with sprinkler system.
  • Any other duty as requested by Supervisor
  • Maintains all work sites in a safe, functional and presentable manner. 
  • Ensures all equipment and supplies are accounted for at all times.

Other Functions:

  • Transport all appropriate equipment required for job to assigned work site.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A combination of one of the following:
    • Two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in construction, maintenance, custodial and facilities management,.
    • Formal maintenance training.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License and be eligible to drive.
  • Some Travel may be required

Physical Demands:

Bending, stooping and lifting 50 lbs required to complete daily tasks. Most activities include repetitive motions and can include overhead reaching. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Must embrace cultural diversity awareness and have the ability to work with a diverse population.

Work Environment:

Work shifts are subject to change. Predominantly indoors, occasional outdoor monitoring or activities. This is a fast-paced environment with hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals and machines present. Involves walking and standing for extended periods.
