Job Summary:

The Accounting Technician is responsible for financial and administrative record keeping at the project level. They maintain financial records for internal and external monitoring and provide data as requested.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare accounts payable vouchers and process checks using MIP Gazelle and SWKWD MIP Accounting Systems.
  • Support program staff on use of Gazelle Client Service System
  • Support programs on use of Global Cash Card System
  • Orders and maintains gas card inventory
  • Maintain financial records in an organized and logical manner
  • Assist in gathering information for monthly close
  • Assist financial staff with clerical duties, including accounts receivables and payables, photocopying, filing, typing, report preparation, faxing, etc.
  • Organize and maintain files
  • Implement method for tracking files and safekeeping
  • Assist in generation of reports, including data gathering via the computer system, printed reports or other available information
  • Distribute information and materials as needed

Other Functions:

  • Travel to attend meetings training and other activities.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting and at least six months of accounts payable/financial clerical experience.
  • Must have good computer skills, including experience with MS Office suite.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated customer service skills.

Preferred:

Previous experience with TWIST software system.

Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas.
  • While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment.
  • Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and local travel, including exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather conditions, and occasional environmental hazards
